This indenture, made this twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & fifty one between William Bunbury of the county of Stafford of the one part & Humphrey Arnold of the County of Prince William of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Wm. Bunbury hath demised, granted, sett & to farm lett & by these presents doth demise, grant, sett & to farm lett one messuage tenement & tract of land containing one hundred & fifty acres situate, lying & being in ye aforesd. county of Prince William, bounded as followeth, viz.
Beginning at a white oak corner of Col. Lee's & Denice Conner's and running south forty two degrees & an half east thirty two pole from thence north thirty seven degrees & a half east one hundred & thirty nine pole from thence north sixty eight & a half degrees east one hundred & sixteen pole thence north sixty three degrees west two hundred & twenty six pole south two degrees west two hundred thirty one pole to the beginning.
For and in consideration of the rents & duties hereafter mentioned & for and during the space & term of the natural lives of him the said Humphrey Arnold & Anna his wife & Isaac his son or the longest liver of them together with all houses, edifices, gardins, orchards, woods & underwoods, profits, comodities, hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever belonging or in any wise appertaining to ye same to have and to hold ye sd. messuage, tenements & premises to him the said Arnold, his heirs, exrs., administrators or assigns during the term aforesaid yielding & paying thereof yearly & every year during the term aforesaid unto the said Bunbury or his heirs, exrs., admrs., or assigns the sum of five hundred & thirty pounds of good sound merchantable lawfull tobo. at or upon ye eighteenth day of October yearly during the said term & if it shall happen ____ ye whole or any part of the said yearly rent of five hundred & thirty pounds of tobo. shall be behind or unpaid twenty days after the eighteenth day of October as aforesaid, if the same be lawfully demanded that then it shall and may be lawfull to and for ye sd. Wm. Bunbury, his heirs, exrs., adms., or assigns to enter the sd. messuage, tenement or tract of land & being so entered to make disstress & the said distress to keep untill ye said rent with ye arearages be lawfully satisfied & paid but if it shall so happen that the said yearly rent as aforesaid shall be behind or unpaid as aforesd. and no sufficient distress shall be found on the premises to satisfie & answer ye said rent with ye arearages of rent as aforesd. that then it shall & may be lawfull to & for ye said Bunbury, his heirs, exrs., adms., Or assigns to reenter & posses the premises aforesaid as if this lease had never been made & further ye sd. Bunbury doth covenant & agree to & with ye sd. Arnold, his heirs, exrs., adms., And assigns that he or they shall have liberty to work but only four servants or slaves & himself or an oversees & that said Arnold, his heirs or assigns shall not have liberty to sell or make any waist of any timber on ye tenement aforesaid & further the said Bunbury doth agree with the said Arnold, his heirs or assigns that he or they shall have ye use & benefit of ye aforesaid tenement or tract of land during ye space of three years from the eighteenth of October one thousand seven hundred & fifty one before the said yearly rent becomes due.

This indenture, made the thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred and fifty three between Humphrey Arnold of the Parish of Hamilton and County of Prince William of the one part and Thomas Turner the younger of the Parish of Hanover and County of King George of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Humphrey Arnold for and in condiseration of the sum of five shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Turner at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Humphrey Arnold doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Turner all that tract or parcel of land whereon Edward Jones now liveth containing by estimation sixty acres be the same more or less lying and being in the Parish of Hanover in the County of King George being the land whereon my father Thomas Arnold formerly lived and was given and conveyed to him by his father Isaac Arnold by deed of gift bearing date the third day of May one thousand seven hundred and thirty three and therein bounded as follows:
Beginning at the upper corner of the said Thomas Arnold's plantation in a branch which leads into Gingeteague Creek at a red oak standing in or near the line of the land formerly belonging to Mr. Jonathan Gibson running thene with the said line and the line of the land of Mr. Thomas Turner to a small branch which branch divides this land from the land of the said Isaac Arnold Senr. thence easterly down the said branch to the line of Henry Long thence from the land of the said Isaac Arnold and along the line of the sd. Henry Long to the first mentioned branch thence up the branch to the beging. red oak which said deed of gift is recorded in the County Court of King George.
Relation being thereunto had may more fully appear and all houses, outhouses, edifices, buildings, yards, gardens, orchards, woods, underwoods, way, waters and watercourses, profits, commodities, advantages & appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of parcel of land belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises hereby granted, bargained and sold with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said Thomas Turner, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns from the day of the date hereof for and during and unto the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and ended yielding and paying therefore yearly the rent of one ear of Indian corn at the expiration of the said term (if the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for Transferring uses into possession) he the said Thomas Turner may be in the actual possession of the said tract or parcel of land and premises hereby bargained and sold and thereby be the better enabled to accept & take a grant and release of the reversion an inheritance thereof to him, his heirs and assigns forever.

This indenture, made the ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty four and in the fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third, King of Great Britain &c., between Colonel Richard Henry Lee of the County of Westmoreland of the one part and Humphrey Arnold of the County of Fauquier of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Richard Henry Lee for and in consideration of the yearly rents and covenants hereinafter reserved, mentioned & contained on the part of the said Humphrey Arnold and Anne his wife and Samuel his son to be paid, done and performed hath demised, leased and to farm letten and by these presents doth demise, lease and to farm let unto the said Humphrey Arnold during his natural life and the lives of the said Anne & Samuel Arnold one hundred acres of land belonging to the said Lee in the aforesaid County of Fauquier and beginning at two hickorys, the beginning of William Barton's tenement, thence continuing with the said Lee's main line north two degrees east 172 poles to white oak a corner of the main tract of Lee, thence west 64 poles to a white oak near Turkey Run thence south 29 d. west 163 poles to the line of the said Barton's lott in an old field, thence south ____ east 142 poles to the beginning.
To have and to hold the said land and all other the premises hereby let and demised for and during the natural life of the said Humphrey Arnold and the lives of Anne & Samuel Arnold before mentioned and the said Humphrey Arnold nor the said Anne or Samuel Arnold shall not make waste of any lumber but what shall be necessary to build or repair houses or for other necessary plantations uses on the hereby demised premises.
He the said Humphrey Arnold and Anne and Samuel Arnold after him yielding and paying yearly & every year during their natural lives and on the first day of October in each year five pounds current money of Virginia and pay the quit rents and land tax lawfully demandable for the same and plant & keep under a sufficient fence one hundred good apples trees and build a dwelling house sixteen feet square & a tobacco house twenty four feet long by twenty feet wide & work no more than three tithables & an overseer and keep the said tenement in good & sufficient repair and the said Humphrey Arnold doth hereby promise, covenant and agree to and with the said Richard Henry Lee that the said Humphrey Arnold and Anne & Samuel Arnold after him shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs or assigns the yearly rent of five pounds current money of Virginia hereby reserved annually at the time above limited, and the said Humphrey Arnold doth further covenant and agree that in case the said annual rent or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of one callender moth after the same shall become due, that then it shall and may be lawfull for the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs or assigns or certain attorney into the above granted premises to reenter and hold the same so as if this lease had never been made.
But if the said Humphrey Arnold and Anne and Samuel Arnold shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the rents above mentioned and also truly perform the other covenants in this indenture stipulated on their parts, then he and they shall and lawfully may have, hold, use, occupy and enjoy the before demised premises and every part thereof with the appurtenances during he and their natural lives without any ____ trouble or molestation of him the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or be claim by, from or under him or them.

This indenture, made the twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two between Colonel Richard Henry Lee of Westmoreland County of the one part & Humphrey Arnold of the County of Fauquier of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Richard Henry Lee, for and in consideration of the rents, reservations & covenants herein after mentioned and reserved on the part and behalf of the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs and assigns, to be paid and performed, hath demised, leased & to farm letter and by these presents doth demise, lease & to farm lett unto the said Humphrey Arnold all that tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances situate, lying & being in the parish of Hamilton in the county of Fauquier now in the tenure and occupation of the said Humphrey Arnold, containing by survey one hundred and forty one acres of land and bounded as followeth, to wit.
Beginning at a white oak and stone corner of the main tract, standing about four poles from Turkey Run & corner to John Hathaway, then with his line No. 89½ W 32 poles to a white oak corner to Hathaway and Taylor, thence leaving Hathaway and running with Taylor, the course continued in all 70 po. to a white oak, another corner of Taylor, then running with Taylor & Arnold So. 30 W 188 po. to a stone in Turkey Run old ____ corner to Arnold in the line of Joseph Jeffries, thence with his line So. 81½ E 157 po. to two hickorys, corner to Joseph Jeffries, then leaving Jeffries and running with a line of the original tract No. 12 W 178 po. to the beginning, together with all the profits, commodities& appurtenances to the same, belonging or in any wise appertaining.
To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances above granted and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns, for and during the natural lives of the said Humphrey Arnold and Anne Arnold his wife & Benjamin Arnold and during the natural life of every and either of them longest living, yielding & paying therefore yearly and every year during the said term unto the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, the sum of seven pounds, nine shillings & three pence lawful money of Virginia, which payment well & truly to be made is to begin on the first day of October ____ ensuing the date of this indenture over and above the quit rents and taxes that is or may be payable for the same hereby demised premises, but if it shall happen that the said reserved rent of seven pounds, nine shillings & three pence and the quit rents be behind and unpaid by the space of thirty days next after every first day of October on which the same ought to be paid as aforesaid being lawfully demanded and if the land tax that may be lawfully required for the same be not also paid as the law may require, that then and from thenceforth it shall be lawfull for the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns into and upon the said demised premises or any part thereof in the name of the whole to ____ and the same to have again repossess & ____ as in his or their other former estate or right anything herein contained to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding and the said Humphrey Arnold, for himself, his heirs and assigns doth covenant and grant to and with the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns, that he the said Humphrey Arnold for himself, his heirs and assigns, doth covenant & grant to and with the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns that he the said Humphrey Arnold for himself, his heirs & assigns shall and will well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the sd. Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators & assigns the said yearly rent above mentioned & reserved on the day & in the manner and form above expressed according to the true intent and meaning of these presents.
And also that the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns, at his and their proper costs and charges hath and will from time to time and at all times during the said term, well & sufficiently repair, maintain, sustain & keep the said premises hereby demised and every part and parcel thereof, with the appurtenances in and with all manner of needfull & necessary reparations and amendments whatsoever, when and as often as need shall require and the same so well & sufficiently repaired, maintained, sustained & kept shall & will at the expiration or sooner determination of this lease, peacably & quietly surrender leave & yield the hereby demised premises unto the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns or any of them & also that neither he the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs or assigns or any of them shall or will at any time hereafter during the said term commit or suffer or cause to be committed, suffered or done any manner of waze in or upon the said premises or any part thereof nor shall cut down, sell, take, carry away or destroy any of the timber trees standing on or being ____ ____ shall ____ stand on or be in or upon the hereby demised premises or any part thereof except for the necessary uses of the plantation and that he the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs or assigns shall within the space of two years after the date hereof build upon the hereby demised premises a good framed dwelling house sixteen feet square at the least and a good clapboard or plank tobacco house or barn twenty four by twenty feet wide and work no more than after the rate of three tithable persons and an ____ for each hundred acres.
And also plant within one year from the date hereof one hundred Winton apple trees at least forty feet every way distant each from the other and keep that number at least during the continuance of this demise well trimmed, pruned, fenced in and secured from horses, cattle & other creatures.
And further that he will also within the term of two years inclose and secure two acres of the lower swampy land under a good & sufficient fence and prepare and sow the same in good Timothy Meadow and keep the same in good order of meadow untill the determination of this lease and the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns doth further covenant & agree to and with the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns that the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns will leave standing in some convenient part of the above granted premises and in one body at least twenty six acres of woods untouched, which woods shall remain and be held as a future support of the plantation or farm at the expiration or future determination of this lease.
And the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns doth further covenant with the said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns that he or they will not sell or assign this lease to any person or persons whatsoever without first giving the refusal thereof tot he said Richard Henry Lee, his heirs, executors and assigns.
And the said Richard Henry Lee for himself and his heirs doth covenant and grant to and with the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns that the said Humphrey Arnold, his heirs and assigns paying the yearly rents hereby reserved and performing the covenants which on this or their parts are or ought to be kept according according to their agreement herein before mentioned and contained shall and may from time to time and at all times during the continuance of this demise peacefully and quietly have hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the premises aforesaid with the appurtenances without the ____ hinderance, molestation or interruption of the said Richard Henry Lee or any person or persons claiming by, from or under him.

This indenture, made this fourth day of July one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine, between Humphrey Arnold of the County of Fauquier of the one part and Isaac Arnold of said County of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Humphrey Arnold as ____ in consideration of the love and affection that he hath and doth bear unto the said Isaac Arnold (his son) as also for the better support of the said Isaac Arnold's family hath given, grant and confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant and confirm unto the said Isaac Arnold forever two Negroes, namely Sampson and Lettise, together with all their profits, and future increase of her the said Lettise.
To have and to hold the aforesaid Negroes and future increase hereby given and granted to the only proper use and ____ of him the said Isaac Arnold, his heirs, Executors, Administrators or assigns forever.

To all whom these presents shall come, know ye that whereas some disputes have arisen concerning a Negro girl named Sarah, which I gave John Knowling at his intermarriage with my daughter, and whereas the said Knowling hath sold the said slave to Charles Martin; now be it remembered that in order to settle all future disputes and to confirm the said Martin in his title to the said slave, I do hereby warrant and defend the said slave named Sarah, with all her future increase, to the said Charles Martin, his heirs and assigns forever, against the claim & demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this third day of September 1787.

We also find according to the amount of sales & valuation of the Negroes after all debts is paid as stated above there will be one hundred & ten pounds five shilling & nine pence & one thousand seven hundred pound of crop tob. to be equally divided between Isaac Arnold, Sam. In obedience to an order of the worshipful Court of Fauquier County to us directed have settled Benjamin Arnold's account of the administration of the estate of Humphrey Arnold deceased which was left unsettled by the former commissioners and find there is thirteen pounds eight shillings and nine pence due to the said Benjamin Arnold as per account annexed.
